THE PARTNERSHIP

How the partnership came about

Team MAX manages Yasuharu Takanashi, the composer behind the scores for Naruto Shippuden and Fairy Tail. Japan Nakama contacted the Far East Groove team about the London date, and Nozomu Wakai of Team MAX confirmed the campaign on 7 September. Kazuki Takanashi of the management team then supplied the press assets, written answers to our interview questions and two guest list places for a giveaway.

OUR APPROACH

How we ran the campaign

Event article

Our event article went live on 16 September with the date, venue, doors time and the story of Takanashi's anime career. It also untangled the credits for the original Naruto music, which are often confused online.

Interview

Takanashi answered our questions in writing through his team, and we published his answers in full on 19 September. He confirmed on the record that he wrote Sadness and Sorrow, the Naruto theme often credited to other composers.

Giveaway

We ran a giveaway for two places on the Dingwalls guest list, supplied by Team MAX. We picked one winner, and Team MAX confirmed both names on the list before the show.

Newsletter

The show featured in Japan Nakama newsletters on 21 and 30 September, both sent to our 20,000+ subscribers. The first carried the giveaway alongside the promotion, and the second was a final push before show night.
